The Town Council are so pleased to finally see the installation of Mr Charles Barker's memorial bench. Situated in the Applegarth park, overlooked by Charles' famous independent department store, Barkers, his wife and family with a select few others gathered for the unveiling.
With the poignant quote 'the wonderful thing in life is that we're all different' inscribed on the bench's plaque, Charles' son Guy Barker joked about the sentiment of the saying that his father used quite often.
Sadly, Mr Barker died at the age of 69 following a long battle with cancer but his legacy will live on.
