Women's Section Royal British Legion

It was a very special day at Town Hall HQ on Tuesday for the Women's Section of Northallerton's Royal British Legion where a commemorative ceremony was held in the company of supporters such as Chairman of the Town Council John Forrest and Councillor John Prest to present the historic Standard to the Town Hall.

Joan Murray, MBE officially handed over the historic flag expressing her sadness but the importance for the legacy of the Women's section to be remembered. Mayor, Councillor John Forrest said: 'I accept this standard on behalf of the town. It is a great honour for the council and for Northallerton that it is securely laid up in the town hall for all future generations to see and admire'.

Please feel free to drop by the Town Hall to look at the standard placed in our Upper Hall.

 March Festivities?

NTC would like to congratulate Emily Quinn, a Y6 student at Romanby Primary School. The Mayor, John Forrest attended the awards assembly at the school today to present Emily with her prize. Each year the Town Council hold the Christmas Illumination competition giving children of the community a chance to design and create their very own illumination in the town's high street. Expect to see Emily's fantastic, festive holly design this December!

The Town Council hope to one day have the full high street lit up with the children's designs from the community. We would like to thank Romanby, Sacred Heart, Broomfield, Mill Hill, Applegarth, Brompton and Alverton for all taking part, there was some amazing drawings and it was extremely difficult for the Council to whittle it down! We hope you all contribute for 2019! Emily's design will join previous years winners Henry Millington and Chercade Wintersgill on the high street. Well done Emily, doing it for the girls on International Women's Day.
