Public Toilets & Facilities

Local company Moody Construction Ltd, has started work on the much-anticipated new public toilets this week on the ground floor of Northallerton Town Hall, with opening expected in early May.

Further to last year's public survey and input from a variety of business and community groups, the provision will include separate male and female toilets plus an accessible facility, with baby change.

James Moody, Construction Director, said "“As a one-hundred-year-old business established and based here in Northallerton we are passionate about supporting improvements to the area in which we live and work. We are pleased to continue our strong partnership with the local Councils to provide much needed high-quality facilities and amenities within and around our wonderful market town, these latest sympathetic alterations to the Town Hall will create public conveniences on the High Street for both residents of, and visitors to Northallerton.

Northallerton Town Council has been the driving force behind providing new public toilets in the high street, as demand for such a facility has increased and councillors are confident this will enhance the visitor experience in Northallerton Town Centre supporting the Town Square redevelopment and Coach Party initiative. Delivery of the new facilities has been made possible by successful grant bids and with the help of Hambleton District Council's BounceBack fund.

Cllr Paul Cornfoot, Deputy Mayor added " it has become increasingly clear over the past few years, that Northallerton needs good quality, accessible and centrally located public toilets in the town.  We have worked closely with the local community and key stakeholders to ensure that the new facility will further improve the attractiveness of the town for residents, businesses and visitors - which is crucial to help the local economy after a few difficult years."
