Community Spirit Award

Northallerton Town Council was delighted to sponsor the Community Spirit Award, at the recent BID Awards Ceremony. This category honoured a person or business who has really made a difference in our local community and has had a measured and sustainable impact on both the community and business, really embracing challenges.

Presenting the award to Carmel Carrick of Zetland Wines the Mayor of Northallerton, Cllr Phil Eames, accompanied by Deputy Mayor, Cllr Paul Cornfoot said

“Huge congratulations to Carmel! Several nominees praised her for the fantastic support she has given the Northallerton community through the Covid pandemic and more recently the crisis in Ukraine.”

Carmel has even driven a truck of much-needed supplies to Poland and has acted as a collection point for goods and clothes. Carmel always thinks of others and manages to juggle her business at Zetland Wines with a busy home life and so many kind acts for the local community and beyond.

He added “Our judges said Carmel also plays a prominent part in local events such as the Love Northallerton Pancake Race – and she always has a smile on her face!”

Well done Carmel!
