Northallerton Mayor 2025

At their Annual Council Meeting on 19th May, Northallerton Town Council elected a new Mayor for 2025, Cllr Andrew Hugill.
Outgoing Mayor, Cllr Phil Eames offered thanks to councillors and staff for their support and work over the past 4 years. “I am glad to say that we now have a stable council fulfilling its duties in a professional way, engaging with residents and community groups and representing the interests of the people of Northallerton in terms of the ongoing development of the town. I am particularly pleased that we have been able to open a high-quality public toilet facility in the Town Hall, which is popular with residents and visitors and has enabled Northallerton to achieve accreditation as a coach-friendly Town, which will be valuable in sustaining a vibrant High Street.”
In accepting the office, Cllr Hugill said “I’m honoured that the Town Council has elected me as Mayor and would like to thank Phil on behalf of all the Councillors for his successful leadership and hard work over the last 4 years. I look forward to continuing working with the other Councillors, staff and all our partners to make Northallerton an even better place to live, work and visit.”
Thanks were also offered to Cllr Paul Cornfoot for the part he has played in recent years, as he was re-elected Deputy Mayor for the coming year.
